Do You Have to Replace Your EHR to Fix Your Revenue?

No. Your software is probably fine. What you may not have is a clear answer to what happened between the claim and the payment, and replacing an EHR does not answer it. Keep the systems that work. Add the intelligence they're missing.

What CareVixis adds, and what it does not replace

CareVixis is a healthcare revenue management company. It combines people, process and its own technology to help practices understand, protect and improve the revenue cycle.

VixisIQ™ is the CareVixis revenue intelligence technology. It analyzes revenue-cycle and remittance data to surface payment patterns, denials, payer behavior and A/R trends. VixisTrace™ is the CareVixis claim root cause analysis technology. It investigates why an individual claim was rejected, denied or underpaid.

Neither is an EHR, an EMR, a practice management system or a clearinghouse, and neither replaces one. They read what those systems produce.

Division of labour

Every System Works. The Problem Is They Don't Work Together.

Practices are routinely sold one of these as though it were all four. Knowing which is which makes it much easier to work out what is actually missing.

SystemIts jobWhat it is not built to answer
EHR or practice management system Document the encounter, run the schedule, create the charge, hold the patient record and the ledger. Why this payer denies this service line, and whether that is new.
Clearinghouse Translate and transmit transactions between the practice and its payers, and return responses. What the returned information means for the practice's revenue over time.
VixisIQ™ Analyze revenue-cycle and remittance data for patterns, problems and potential revenue opportunities. Why one specific claim failed. That is a claim-level investigation.
VixisTrace™ Investigate an individual problem claim, identify the root cause and support corrective action. Whether the same cause is happening across hundreds of claims. That is the pattern question.

Behind all four sits the part no software does: someone accountable for the work. CareVixis is a revenue management company, not a reporting tool.

Start where you are

Find Your Situation

Your EHR or practice management system

What your EHR handles, what it was never built to answer, and how revenue management works when you keep it. Covers behavioral health, ambulatory, enterprise, specialty, therapy and post-acute platforms.

EHR and practice management →

Your clearinghouse

What the clearinghouse does under HIPAA, what comes back from payers in the remittance advice, and how that information becomes revenue intelligence instead of a file nobody reads.

Clearinghouses and remittance data →

Your specialty

Revenue-cycle problems are not generic. Authorization rules, coding families, credentialing and payer mix differ by specialty, and so do the denials that follow.

How to Choose a Billing Company When You Already Have Systems

These are the questions worth asking any revenue-cycle vendor, CareVixis included. They are written so that a vague answer is obvious as a vague answer.

  1. Can they work with the systems you already have?

Ask what specifically they need from your EHR and clearinghouse, and what happens if a piece of it is not available. A company that answers "we work with everything" has not looked.

  2. What are they actually claiming about integration?

An API integration, a certification and a partnership are three different things, and none of them is the same as "we can work with the data". Ask which one they mean, and ask for it in writing.

  3. Who investigates a denial, and how far do they go?

There is a real difference between correcting and resubmitting a claim and establishing why it failed. Ask what happens the third time the same denial arrives.

  4. Do they perform root cause analysis, or just rework?

Ask them to describe the last root cause they found for a practice like yours, what they changed, and how they knew whether it worked.

  5. How is accounts receivable actually worked?

Ask what the follow-up process is, at what age a balance gets attention, and who decides to write something off. Ask who tells you when a balance is approaching a filing limit.

  6. What do they do with the remittance data?

Remittance advice is a standardized transaction, which means it can be analyzed across payers and over time. Ask whether they analyze it, or only post from it.

  7. Can you see what is happening without asking?

Ask what visibility you get, in what form, and how often. Then ask the harder version: if a claim has been sitting for 60 days, what would have told you?

  8. Is any of the work outsourced offshore?

Ask directly, and ask about subcontractors, not just employees. CareVixis is 100% US based with no outsourcing.

  9. What additional technology do you have to buy?

Ask what is included, what is optional and what you would be expected to license separately to get the reporting they are showing you.

  10. Who is accountable, and can you reach them?

Ask who owns the relationship, who owns a problem claim, and how you reach a decision maker rather than a queue.

CareVixis answers all ten of these the same way for every practice, and writes the answers down before anything is signed. If a vendor cannot do that, the answers are not settled.

Evidence, not adjectives

Why Practices Consider CareVixis

Each of these is a capability that can be checked, not a claim about being better.

Keep your existing system

Keeping your EHR is a supported outcome, and it carries no monthly software fee from CareVixis. Price does not push you toward switching. Both paths.

VixisIQ™ revenue intelligence

Analyzes revenue-cycle and remittance data for denial and adjustment patterns, payer behavior, A/R trends and revenue opportunities. What it analyzes.

VixisTrace™ root cause analysis

Investigates why an individual claim was rejected, denied or underpaid, in eight defined stages, with recurrence monitored. The workflow.

Revenue management, not claim submission

US based operations, US data centers and no outsourcing. CareVixis writes its own software. How CareVixis is set up.

One accountable team

Billing, A/R, denials, credentialing and payer enrollment under one relationship, with named accountability rather than a shared inbox.

Questions About Working Alongside Existing Systems

Do I have to change my EHR to work with CareVixis?

No. Keeping the EHR or practice management system a practice already uses is a supported outcome, not a fallback. CareVixis also offers its own platform, and keeping your own EHR carries no monthly software fee, so the decision is not driven by price.

Does CareVixis replace my clearinghouse?

No. A clearinghouse translates and transmits transaction data between a practice and its payers. CareVixis analyzes the information that comes back and manages the work that follows. Those are different functions.

Is CareVixis integrated with my EHR?

CareVixis does not claim an API integration, native integration, certification or partnership with any third-party EHR or clearinghouse unless that relationship is documented. What CareVixis does claim is that it is designed to work alongside existing healthcare technology, and the specific data arrangement for a practice is confirmed before any commitment.

What does CareVixis need in order to analyze my revenue data?

Revenue-cycle data such as remittance advice, claim and payment detail and accounts receivable information. Where appropriate data can be obtained and normalized, VixisIQ™ can analyze the resulting remittance information. What is available differs by practice, so the scope is established up front.

What if I want to move onto the CareVixis platform later?

That option stays open and is not a condition of anything. The CareVixis position is "keep your EHR, let us earn your trust first". A move may be offered at no additional migration charge.

Compatibility Where You Need It. Native Connection Where We Own It.

CareVixis supports the EHRs and clearinghouses a practice already uses. Where CareVixis owns the technology, the Vixis products can work natively together; where it does not, compatibility is a supported operating model, not a second-class option.
