Chiropractic revenue management, for practices on ChiroFusion

Sending the Claim Costs You Nothing. Losing It Costs You Everything.

ChiroFusion includes electronic claims at no charge per claim and posts payments back automatically. That is a genuinely good deal, and it has one quiet consequence: when submitting costs nothing, a claim that fails costs nothing either, so nothing on any invoice ever tells you it happened. The failure is silent. Someone still has to go looking.

Your Claims Cost Nothing to Send.

ChiroFusion includes electronic claims with no charge per claim, and posts payments back on its own.

For a busy chiropractic practice that is a real saving, and it is one of the reasons people choose it.

Which Means a Failure Is Free Too.

A per-claim fee is accidentally a monitoring system: it makes volume visible.

Without one, a claim can go out four times and nothing in your finances says so.

And Half Your Money May Not Be Claims at All.

Wellness plans bring in revenue that never touches a payer, so it never appears on any claims report.

Strong plan income can mask insurance underperformance for a long time.

The Balance Ages Quietly.

Nothing is on fire. Nobody is chasing. The filing deadline arrives anyway.

That is what an accounts receivable problem looks like before anyone calls it one.

Keep ChiroFusion. Hand Over the Rest.

CareVixis manages denials, appeals, accounts receivable, payer follow-up and credentialing around your existing workflow.

Nothing clinical changes, and your plans keep running where they are.

ChiroFusion sends the claim. CareVixis makes sure it turns into money.

The detail

The detail, if you want it

What ChiroFusion publishes about itself, why two revenue streams complicate the picture, where chiropractic claims fail after a good note, and what to ask any billing company.

If claims are free to send, why would billing need managing?

Because the cost of a failed claim was never the submission fee. It is the money the visit earned and the practice never received, plus the staff hours spent resubmitting, plus the balance that quietly ages past a filing deadline while it looks like it is being handled.

A per-claim charge is, accidentally, a monitoring system: it makes volume visible. Remove it and resubmission becomes invisible. A claim can go out four times without anything in the practice's finances registering that it happened. CareVixis manages the revenue cycle around ChiroFusion so someone is accountable for the outcome rather than the submission.

Credit where it is due

What ChiroFusion Publishes About Itself

['ChiroFusion describing ChiroFusion, quoted from its own site and cited below. It is here because a page about the revenue cycle around a system should be accurate about the system.', 'One line matters more than the rest: ChiroFusion is “Software designed exclusively for chiropractors”. It is not a general medical system with a chiropractic template bolted on, and that shows in what it chooses to include.']

ChiroFusion capability as ChiroFusion publishes it. CareVixis has not independently tested these features and states them as the vendor's own descriptions.
What it doesHow ChiroFusion describes it
Who it is built for“Software designed exclusively for chiropractors.”
Claims“Free, unlimited electronic claims w/ automatic payment posting.”
DocumentationIt creates a compliant note and a claim together, and the documentation is “designed to save you time and stand up to the scrutiny of insurance companies”.
Cash and plans“Integrated payment processing. Setup monthly wellness plans with ease.”
Front desk“Online intake forms w/ patient self check-in improves office efficiency” and email and text appointment reminders.
Hosting“100% cloud-based. Never any software to install, update or maintain.”
Clinical extras“Exercise prescriptions, outcome measures and telehealth consultations.”
Moving in“Free data import from your current software.”
Its stated billing aim“Our billing philosophy is simple: Get paid more money, in less time.”

CareVixis has not independently tested any of these features. ChiroFusion also publishes revenue and time-saving figures for its own customers; none of them appears anywhere on this page, because CareVixis cannot verify another company's customer results.

The gap

Two Revenue Streams, One of Them Invisible to Insurance Reporting

A ChiroFusion practice running monthly wellness plans has money arriving on two completely different paths. One is adjudicated: eligibility, claim, remittance, adjustment, patient responsibility. The other is a recurring charge that never touches a payer at all.

Most billing conversations only cover the first one, and a practice can therefore look healthy on insurance metrics while a membership programme quietly leaks through failed cards, lapsed plans and members who stopped attending but kept paying until they noticed. Neither problem is a denial. Neither shows up on a claims report.

The reverse is also true. A practice with strong plan revenue can absorb a surprising amount of insurance underperformance without feeling it, which is exactly how an aged accounts receivable balance grows without anyone raising an alarm.

What the plan revenue hides

  • Insurance underperformance nobody feels this month.
  • Aged balances that never became urgent.
  • A payer quietly paying below contract.
  • Claims resubmitted three times at no visible cost.

What the plan revenue needs of its own

  • Failed and expired cards chased promptly.
  • Lapsed plans noticed before renewal.
  • Plan terms that stay consistent with what is documented.
  • A clean line between plan services and billed services.
Where the money actually goes missing

Where a Chiropractic Claim Fails After a Good Note

ChiroFusion builds the note and the claim together, which removes a whole class of transcription error. These are the failures that survive that.

The coverage question

Whether care is active treatment or maintenance is a clinical determination, and Medicare treats the answer as the difference between a covered service and a denied one. CareVixis sets out the published rule on its chiropractic revenue management page.

Region count and the note

98940, 98941 and 98942 turn on how many spinal regions were treated, with 98943 for extraspinal. A well-written note can still not match the level submitted.

Plan services billed as covered services

Where a wellness plan and an insurance benefit overlap, the boundary has to be deliberate. Getting it wrong is a compliance problem rather than a billing one.

Silent resubmission

With no per-claim charge, a claim can be corrected and resent repeatedly without any financial signal. The clock on the filing deadline keeps running throughout.

Liability and auto balances

Chiropractic carries an unusually high share of personal injury and auto cases. Those receivables behave nothing like commercial claims and need chasing on their own schedule.

Enrollment effective dates

A clinician who is not yet enrolled with a plan produces denials that read like coding problems. The reason code rarely says so plainly.

CareVixis publishes no denial rate, recovery rate or resolution time, and does not suggest any practice experiences all of this. What is actually happening in a particular practice is a question for its own data.

Conceptual workflow

Where This Fits Around What You Already Run

Where a chiropractic claim goes on ChiroFusion, and where CareVixis joins it. The first four steps are the practice's existing workflow and do not change.

  1. Visit, note and claimChiroFusion produces the documentation and the claim together, from one workflow.
  2. Electronic submissionClaims go out electronically, with no per-claim charge and no stated volume limit.
  3. Payer adjudicationThe claim is paid, adjusted, denied, or rejected before adjudication. A rejection never became a claim, so there is nothing to appeal.
  4. Automatic postingPayments post back automatically against the patient ledger.
  5. VixisIQ™CareVixis revenue intelligence reads the resulting remittance information, where appropriate data can be obtained and normalized, and looks at accounts receivable, payer behaviour and denial patterns over time rather than claim by claim.
  6. VixisTrace™Where a claim failed, CareVixis claim root cause analysis works eight stages in order: Detect, Investigate, Identify, Correct, Prevent, Resubmit, Verify, Monitor.
  7. The CareVixis teamA person owns each appeal, each payer call and each ageing balance. Denials are worked the day they arrive; submitting the corrected claim or appeal the same day is the CareVixis standard.
A framework you can use on anyone

What to Ask a Billing Company If You Run ChiroFusion

Put these to CareVixis as well. A practice that asks a shortlist the same nine questions learns more from the differences than from any page like this one.

  1. How would I know a claim had been sent four times?

There is no invoice line to notice. Ask for the mechanism that surfaces repeat submission, because without one it is invisible by design.

  2. Do you look at plan revenue at all?

Many billing companies only handle adjudicated claims. If a meaningful share of the practice's income is membership based, ask who is watching it.

  3. Who owns the filing deadline?

Ask how you would be told that a reworked claim was approaching its limit, before it passed.

  4. How do you keep plan services and billed services separate?

Ask for the rule they apply, not a reassurance. This is the one on this list with compliance consequences.

  5. Would you catch a short payment?

The claim was paid, so it never reaches a denial worklist. Ask what compares the payment against the contracted amount.

  6. What do you do with a denial the second time it appears?

Reworking it is the minimum. Ask what changes so there is no third time.

  7. How are auto and injury balances handled?

Ask specifically. A general accounts receivable process usually leaves these alone until they stop being collectable.

  8. Do you handle credentialing and enrollment?

Enrollment dates cause denials that look like coding errors. There is real value in one partner seeing both.

  9. Who exactly will be working our claims?

Ask for the shape of the team and whether you can speak to them directly. CareVixis is 100% US based and does not outsource.

Using ChiroFusion? Keep It.

Your team knows this software, the notes and claims come out of one workflow, and your plans are already running in it. Nothing on this page is an argument for changing any of that.

Keeping your system is a supported outcome, not a fallback. CareVixis manages the revenue cycle around whatever a practice runs. If a practice later wants to move to the CareVixis platform, that move may be offered at no additional migration charge, and everything the patient sees still carries the practice's own name and branding.

Keep ChiroFusion. Find the claims nothing charged you to lose.

Questions Chiropractors Ask About ChiroFusion and Billing

Does CareVixis work with chiropractic practices using ChiroFusion?

Yes. CareVixis provides chiropractic revenue cycle management for practices on ChiroFusion. The practice keeps ChiroFusion and CareVixis manages denials, accounts receivable, payer follow-up and credentialing around it.

Do I have to replace ChiroFusion to work with CareVixis?

No. ChiroFusion does not need to be replaced for a practice to use CareVixis revenue cycle services. Scheduling, documentation, claim creation and your wellness plans stay exactly where they are.

If ChiroFusion includes free claims, what am I paying a billing company for?

For the outcome rather than the submission. Sending a claim is the cheap part; working the denial, appealing it, chasing the payer, clearing aged balances and finding the cause behind a repeating failure is the work that recovers money.

Can CareVixis help with membership and wellness plan revenue?

CareVixis manages the revenue cycle, which includes patient balances and the boundary between plan services and billed services. The plans themselves continue to run in ChiroFusion.

What is VixisIQ™?

VixisIQ™ is the CareVixis revenue intelligence technology. It analyses revenue cycle and remittance data to surface payment patterns, adjustments, denial and rejection patterns, payer behaviour and accounts receivable trends. What it can analyse for a particular practice depends on the data that practice is able to make available.

What is VixisTrace™?

VixisTrace™ is the CareVixis claim root cause analysis technology, covering rejected, denied, underpaid and otherwise problematic claims across eight stages. The objective is continuous improvement: identify preventable patterns, address their causes, and reduce unnecessary repeat failures.

What about accounts receivable that has already aged?

CareVixis takes legacy accounts receivable as a separate arrangement, charged on what it actually recovers rather than on the balance handed over. Figures are on the pricing page.

Does credentialing come with this?

It is available. VixisCred™ handles payer enrollment, and enrollment dates are a common hidden cause behind denials that look like coding mistakes. See the pricing page.
